An educational certificate is a document that certifies that a person has passed a particular course or has received a specific education. An educational document is a collective term for documents like degree certificate, higher-secondary certificate, SSLC certificate, diploma certificate, university transcript, etc.
Educational certificates are important to prove your academic qualification to employers, educational institutions etc. when you are applying for admission in foreign universities or looking for better job universities abroad. It is mandatory to attest educational certificates while immigrating to abroad so that you can use those certificates there for various purposes. The main purpose of attesting educational certificates is to avoid fraud, forgery and misrepresentation of documents. It also helps foreign authorities to authenticate your document.
HRD attestation: It is only for attesting government recognized educational documents. Educational documents are attested from the state where you have completed your education. HRD attestation is done by the respective state HRDs.
In India, only the government recognized educational documents come under the HRD department. Educational certificates from private institutions are attested by the Home/Notary department of the respective states.
MEA attestation: It is done by the Ministry of External Affairs after completing the state attestation.
Embassy attestation: After MEA attestation, you are required to attest your educational certificates from the embassy of the country you are intending to travel.
